This week’s installment in the Getting to know… series features Bev Butula, currently chairing two committees.

  • Briefly describe your current role and aspects you find most rewarding.

As Archives chair, I keep digital copies of major LLAW documents and house LLAW awards and other historical materials.

As Programming chair, I, along with my committee, plan the quarterly meetings.   This includes selecting the topics, securing speakers, planning on site meetings (pre-COVID), coordinating registration/attendance, sending out thank you cards, etc.

It is a great opportunity to discover and share topics of interest with our members.   To play a part in the professional development of the membership is great.

  • Why do you feel it is important to volunteer with LLAW?

The organization has so much value (grants, education, networking) and volunteering ensures that will continue.   Plus, I have developed amazing relationships.
